October 8th looms.
I'm not generally nervous about planning things, but the sheer amount of prep on the table is staggering to me. I figure this happens to just about anyone who's ever run a convention and had to deal with the magnitude of growth, but what gnaws at me is that we may very well be the fastest growing convention in North American history (at the very least in Canadian history).
I'm trying to be humble about that achievement. For me it carries more weight than pleasure, and I hope I'm equal to the task. In my staff I have no doubts -- they love this convention, as do I. Their dedication and strength has made the entire experience one of professional yet homespun delight.
I'd like to think that our attendees can experience a great deal of humanity at our show. The staff makes that possible.
There's a lot of planning to be done by the spring. We haven't really stopped working since the con finished, but October means the start of our formal planning year. Break? What break? This is a convention we're holding.
